Wright Brothers
This week we read a story about flying a plane. Our class took a trip back in time and learned about the Wright brothers. We went to a website that shared all sorts of triva about them. An interesting fact is that the brothers designed and sold bicycles before they become fascinated about aviation. If your child and you would like to learn more about the brothers, I have the website bookmarked in my Blogroll.

Helping Out
This week the second graders are reading “Helping Out.” It is a photo essay about children doing various activities to help one another. For our writing assignment, the students are taking pictures of various people helping in our school. Then they are writing about these individuals. The students are enjoying being a photographer for this project. Ask your child who they wrote about.

Teacher Leadership Conference
I will be gone on Monday and Tuesday. Four other colleagues and I will be attending the Teacher Leadership Conference in Pierre. It will be an enlightening experience, which will provide me with plenty of new ideas for the classroom. I will have access to my email if you need to contact me.
